Our Mission
The Valley Collaborative is a community-driven initiative that tackles critical issues including safety, youth empowerment, food security, housing, substance abuse, and economic empowerment. Our goal is to enhance communication, coordination, and project clarity to effectively address these challenges and create a positive impact.
Our Location
The Lynedoch Valley: Vlottenburg, Vlaeberg and Lynedoch communities, Stellenbosch
Our Causes: Six Action Groups
Our causes are focused on making a meaningful difference in the community. After months of community mapping to identify the needs, strenghts and desires of the Lynedoch Valley, we identified priority areas and formed 6 action groups aimed at addressing these priority areas. ​An action group works together to address specific issues in the communities that were highlighted as a priority. Each group is made up of volunteers from local NGOs, schools, businesses, churches, residential areas and community leaders, and plays an important role in designing and implementing a plan for action.
Safety and Crime Prevention
Address violence prevention, and support crime prevention initiatives across the community
Substance Abuse and Wellbeing
Address substance abuse, promote mental and physical health initiatives, and support vulnerable community members
Economic Empowerment
Improve mentorship access, support skills and enterprise development, boost job creation
Food security
Collaborate with existing community kitchens to address food insecurity
Housing and Infrastructure
Tackle housing challenges, improve community facilities, ensure clean environments
Youth Empowerment
Empower youth to reach their full potential
